fire of space are, as someone put it, nyc's premier instrumental, avant-garde folk opera. featuring members of brooklyn's own fela-inspired antibalas afrobeat orchestra, fire of space play a spiritual sort of music, one that lends itself graciously to ecstatic bursts of joy. a heavenly rich cacophony taken from devotees as strong as john coltrane, alice coltrane, and sun ra. throw in an affinity towards traditional folk musics of eastern europe and india and you have a moving music for today, steeped in the revelations of yesterday, long lost in the live spaces of the nite until now.
