pamela and i have caught a serious case of tennis fever since the us open has been in town. it's been getting in the way of our workday, nite matches start late and usually end just before one, which isn't such a bad bedtime when you don't account for the walk home from the neighborhood sports bar (no cable love at home) and the few beers had at said bar. still got home earlier than the nite we actually went up to flushing meadows and took in a couple matches, the last of which we sat courtside (any of y'all see us on the tv?) we don't just watch, but we bet as well. last nites match of clijster vs. williams won me a delicious three course meal at our favorite (as well as john tuturro's!) neighborhood restaurant al di la. i'm betting on clijster all the way, completely taken by her all out approach and spidey split slide style. anyone out there differ? let's bet dinner on it.
couldn't think of any songs to post with a tennis theme (anyone?) instead i've decided to post this cover of the classic by syl johnson redone by ken boothe and turned into dub reggae classic itself. because, outside of 40 love, all i've got on my mind is new orleans and the sad ugly truth concerning race, class, and the 'politics of benign neglect'. a song to those swept up in this suffering, to kanye west for not representing the views of nbc and its affiliates, and to my friends in central lockup. as for the answer to johnson and boothe's question? your damn right it is.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with an odd obsession with the U.S. Open. And I think I have a crush on Kanye West after that outburst-thing-or-whatever-you-want-to-call-it. (Emotion, maybe?)
Did I mention it's FREE?
Anyway, hello from SF.
Oh goodness the spam comment I was making fun of with that whole "Did I mention it was FREE" thing has been deleted and now all context has been lost.
Sniff.
